'RGS Day – incorporating the Collingwood legacy': All welcome, free admission. 1445: First performance of “Collingwood”, a new thirty-minute play by local author Chris Goulding which celebrates Collingwood’s life in words and music. Performed in street theatre style in the school’s Main Hall by students of the Royal Grammar School, Collingwood’s own school, this will be a significant and entertaining addition to the Bicentenary celebrations. Refreshments will be available for purchase in the marquee on the school field before the performance from 1400 and afterwards at 1530. 1530: General Inspection and March Past of cadets of the Army and Navy Sections of the Royal Grammar School Combined Cadet Force on the school field. 1600: The inaugural RGS Collingwood Lecture given by Collingwood’s biographer, Max Adams, in the school’s Main Hall. |

12 noon - 4 pm: The Greater Morpeth Development Trust's annual 'Picnic in the Park' has this year aligned itself with the Collingwood 2010 Festival and contains within its numerous activities a number that are directed specifically towards Collingwood, including an Trafalgar-themed art project (for both children and parents) and a re-enactment skirmish by the 'Time Bandits', representative of a small shore action of the period (see further article on the news page). All welcome, free admission. |
